![]() June 2, 2002: On May 29, the outlaws who inflicted more than three months of damage upon our home and psyches finally finished and moved on to delight others with their craftsmanship and courtliness. Meanwhile, inside, we were removing plastering lathe and hanging plywood and drywall to prepare for the plasterer, followed by the Floor Guy. We also found a place that will mill some replacement redwood siding for us to match what's left, then we can put that on and paint the place. Sounds so easy, doesn't it? In fact, I'm sure Norm Abram could knock all that off in 30 minutes, including commercial breaks. Sadly, we are not Norm, do not know Norm personally, and can't really afford to even mention his name, let alone hire him. But at this point we were still thinking (innocent, starry-eyed) that we could get the whole thing finished in, like, two more months. Isn't that cute? The renovation gods sat back in their easy chairs and had a good, long laugh at that one. |
